Maritime Woodland certification programs have been available to small private woodlot owners and community forests since 2006. These programs continue to evolve from the independent efforts of non-profit forest landowner groups across the Maritime Region. 

Independent Forest Landowner groups act as local management representatives and service providers. Certification is based on support for sustainable forestry, access to woodlot services, and private land representation.
